Process

Following a design process is essential for the success of a project, whether you're creating a new brand identity, website, or even a simple business card.

Step One

Discovery

Discovery is where I work closely with your business to uncover strengths and weaknesses to make sure what we create is aligned to your customers’ needs.

The first step to any design project is a discovery session. This is where we work closely together in order to gain a better understanding of your business as well as to uncover the strengths and weaknesses.

What is your why? Why do you do what you do? Why should it matter to your customers? By asking yourselves questions like this, we will work together to identify what your customers value the most and make sure what we create is aligned to your customers’ needs.

The information uncovered during the discovery session will allow us to create more effective and meaningful strategies in the next step.

Goals

  • Clarify vision, goals, and values
  • Conduct internal & competitive audits
  • Interview key stakeholders
  • Evaluate existing brand
Step Two

Strategy

The brand strategy phase will set a path forward in order to align all aspects of your business, such as messaging, audience, visual style.

With a solid understanding of your business under our belt, let’s now work together in order to determine where you need to be and how best to get there.

We will work collaboratively to set a strategy for content, messaging, and deployment. This process will help guide your business on a path that will continue past the scope of a single project. Only by doing the research and strategy building upfront, can the designs we create in the next step have a chance at being successful.

Goals

  • Clarify brand strategy
  • Write a brand brief
  • Prioritize applications
  • Collaboratively create brand attributes
  • Develop a positioning platform
  • Develop key messaging
  • Evaluate existing brand
  • Create a creative brief to guide our designs
Step Three

Design

The design phase will transform the information we uncovered in the previous phases into impactful visual tools for your brand to leverage.

This is what we’ve all been waiting for—the designing. While most people might be looking for a singular deliverable such as a logo, it is important to recognize that developing a successful brand requires all touchpoints of your business to work together. Everything from your logo, branding, design system, all the way to the privacy policy page on your website. By keeping all these things in mind, we can be sure to craft a well thought out brand that leaves a lasting impression on your customers.

Goals

  • Visualize the future
  • Build out a design system
  • Explore and design applications
  • Revise and test
